Alan Whitefield
Alan is a managing consultant with over twelve years energy industry experience. He brings an extensive track-record in energy trading and risk management, asset optimisation, market analysis, and project management. Alan has particular expertise in asset optimisation across European gas and power markets and have been deeply involved within projects covering power station management, physical LNG trading, commissioning gas storage facilities as well as Russian gas sourcing. As a trader he has managed large book positions in the US, UK and continental Europe. Alan also brings significant experience with integration projects where assets or front-to-back office functions are merged or consumed by one entity within an expanding group.

Alan has a great depth of experience in trading gas, power, oil, emissions, coal and FX across Europe and the US. This experience includes leading teams into new geographical markets, introducing derivative products to firms and working with middle and back office teams to ensure that all non-market risks are also quantified and managed.Transformation and organisational change
Alan has delivered several business improvement programmes which have provided synergy benefits and improved the level of sophistication involved with trading in wholesale energy markets. Projects have covered gas, emissions, power and coal and have involved establishing a fair and equitable transfer pricing mechanism between group entities.Alan has been involved with the set-up of entirely new commercial and trading operations in both mature and emerging markets. These include LNG, gas trading at the NBP and TTF hubs, and originating contracts for gas supply at the Russian border.
